Li Su, a Chinese immigrant to New York willing to do anything to become a star, brands herself an orphan and human rights victim to get the main role on a Broadway show. Meanwhile, her unsuspecting parents smuggle one million dollars in cash from Shanghai to buy her an apartment in Manhattan. A dark comedy dealing with the issues faced by immigrants as they find their place in a new country; it confronts the clash between the values of Chinese parents and their new world offspring.

The play was developed as part of New Text - New Stage II, an Ibsen in China International project for the development of new writing. 

Zhu Yi is a New York-based playwright and screenwriter, born and raised in Shanghai, China. She received the First Prize at 2015 World Sinophone Drama Competition, and Shanghai Drama Valley's 2015 Outstanding Playwright of the Year Award. She is a 2012-2013 Emerging Artist Fellow at New York Theatre Workshop, a Youngblood alumni at Ensemble Studio Theatre, a member of Ma-Yi Writers Lab, and a member of the Royal Court Theatre's International Playwrights Programme.
